Creating a Sustainable Society with Equity!

Foundation for Sustainable Development (FSD) is a non-profit organisation established on September 4, 2004 at Ambur in Vellore District of Tamilnadu state of South India. It was initiated by a team of experienced social workers to create differences in the life of rural India. The Foundation works through various grass-root level organisations all over South India for the advancement of indigenous people, dalits, fisherfolk, backward communities, small farmers, rural & adivasi artisans, aravanis, construction workers, urban poor, slum dwellers, migrant communities and victims of disasters for their sustainable development with the philosophy of ‘creating a sustainable society with equity’.

The Foundation helps for the protection of all natural resources including forests, rivers, water, land, and agricultural fields through community conservation of common property resources. It also promotes action-based research work for the effectiveness of development schemes and programmes by identifying & measuring the development indicators with people’s participation.

Presently the Foundation facilitates number of grass-root level organisations for the empowerment of poor, especially the indigenous communities to enhance their participation in development programs as well as to revitalize their indigenous knowledge in conservation of environment for the sustainable growth with systematic plan of action for the betterment of present and future generations.
